Our Speech and Swallowing Therapy Department specifically caters to individuals experiencing communication related problems. This department has a team of Speech Therapist, Swallowing Specialist (Deglutologist) and Expert medical professionals who treat issues about reading, writing and speech. Our therapists treat people facing speech difficulties and swallowing problems (also known as Dysphagia) post cancer (oral + neck), post radiation/chemotherapy, post stroke, post Road Traffic Accidents and with Vocal Fold related problems.
The GUSS (Gugging Swallowing Screen) test is a bedside screening tool used to assess the risk of aspiration and swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) in patients, particularly after a stroke or neurological injury. It evaluates both non-food and food-related swallowing capabilities through a stepwise approach, starting with observation and saliva management before moving on to semi-solid and liquid textures. The test helps clinicians determine whether a patient can safely consume oral food or requires alternative feeding methods.
