Ruby Hall Clinic’s Medical Social Work (MSW) Department collaborates closely with medical staff to provide exceptional patient care. Founded in 1990, the department currently employs four medical social workers. These social workers address patients’ social, environmental, financial and emotional needs, supporting them throughout their medical journey, from diagnosis to recovery.
Referrals to medical social workers are accepted by doctors, nurses, patients, families, community organisations and other healthcare providers concerned about a patient’s well-being. Social work services are available throughout patient care at the healthcare centre.
We provide counselling for patients and their family members to promote optimal emotional health and coping with any situation.
We organise support group activities for patients, their families, friends and healthcare professionals with complementary therapies, counselling, educational programmes and more
We provide information and referral to community resources for assistance with financial concerns, transportation issues and lodging during treatment.
We provide patients with financial help, information and referral to service organisations, in-house training sessions for healthcare team members and more.
They are the Point Of Contacts (POCs) in the Organ Donation and Transplant programme.
Registration Of Patients
They help patients register for organs with ZTCC and counsel the patient and their relatives for a cadaveric organ transplant.
Fund Raising
They tie up with fundraising agencies.
Psychosocial Counselling
They counsel all admitted patients who are in need and also live organ transplant patients and donors.
Scheme Assessment

Psychosocial Assessment
They provide an assessment of the patient and family as to the patient’s illness, physical and mental needs, education and other relevant information. The purpose of this assessment is to assist in the development of the patient’s treatment and discharge plans in concert with the physician, nursing staff and other health care team members involved with the patient.
Psychosocial Interventions
Interventions to help and encourage a patient or family in adjusting to illness, disability and/or hospitalisation in order that the maximum potential for physical, psychological, and social recovery can be attained.
