Food And Dietary Services

The Food and Dietary Services of our hospital have a long and proud history rooted in care, nutrition, and service. It all began in 1960 when Mrs. Tehmi K. Grant opened the first hospital kitchen with just two cooks and one supervisor. By 1968, the department expanded to include a canteen and a kitchen serving meals to employees, physicians, nurses, and visiting family members. At that time, procurement for over 100 patients was personally managed due to the absence of a separate purchase department. Today, our Clinical Nutrition Department boasts a state-of-the-art kitchen equipped with Microwaves, Electric grinders, Pulverisers, Steamers, Multi-burner stoves and Walk-in cold storage facilities.

We have 15 pantries across the hospital, servicing specialised units such as:

  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Critical Care Unit (CCU)
  • Neuro Trauma Unit (NTU)
  • Cancer Unit
  • Paediatric Unit
  • Private Rooms
  • General Wards

The SR5 Ward stands out with its exceptional pantry services, offering tailored therapeutic diets to patients and à la carte menus for accompanying relatives. We have also included specialised butler services to all the 9 Suite Rooms.

Our team has grown to include:

  • 2 Managers
  • 17 Qualified Dieticians
  • 20 Skilled Cooks
  • 56 Stewards
